Sending HTML bulk emails

Hi there,

A friend wishes to send HTML emails to around 500 students. He wishes them to appear professional like those received in Amazon newsletters.

What is the best way to achieve this.

Is there any easy email software I can point him to?

I assume that unless he has a website to link images from, then they will be enclosed within the email itself so he will need some kind of website setup. Is this how Amazon does it?

Thanx

AMO

  • HTML emails can carry viruses, so many people have their email set to not accept them. Even people who accept them may find them annoying, and/or a waste of bandwidth. Put the HTML on the web and email a plain-text link to the web-page instead.
  • Hi AMO,

I recommend that your friend has a look at Campaign Monitor (http://www.campaignmonitor.com/). This is a platform quite widely used for email marketing, and although I have not used this myself, it has been highly recommended to me.

Pricing is very respectable with this system, especially as it is US based and you are likely to be charged in USD and get a good exchange rate! They also have templates and is a general good source of info.

    Hope this helps,
    Greg
  • Prepare the document in a word processor or DTP program. Save as html.
Open your E-Mail Program, and open a blank e-mail message formatted for HTML. I use Outlook 2003 with the default set on plain text e-mail. So every time I want to send HTML e-mail I use the following sequence.
    • Open new e-mail message using Actions | New Mail Message
    • And when it is open, Format | HTML
Copy and paste the HTML newsletter document into the body of the e-mail message.
E-mail a test to yourself. Keep testing until it's perfect.
When you're satisfied that it's perfect, e-mail to your HTML e-mail subscriber list.

    Good Luck

  • I use Dada Mail http://mojo.skazat.com/ All free!

Brilliant mailing list manager. Full demo available. You need to download this to your hosting webspace to use.

You can either get users to subscribe or subscribe them yourself.

If you take a look at my website www.chesterfilmfans.co.uk you will see my mailing list in action.

    Cheers
