Switching and withdrawal of tariff

Hi,
Does anybody know the rules and/or standard practice, in the following situation:

1) A consumer signs up to fixed tariff A with a new supplier (gas and/or electric) and request a switch
2) The new supplier initiates the switch, but withdraws fixed tariff A, and introduces fixed tariff B, before the switch is complete

Is the supplier still bound to provide tariff A to the consumer?

You should normally be provided with the tariff you applied for.

If, for any reason, that tariff is no longer available to new applicants (e.g. you applied via a third party who had not updated their tariff information) you would normally be told of the error.

In any event, you will be advised of details of the tariff you will be put on following your application, and you are given a cooling off period to cancel if you decide it's not what you want.

Read the terms and conditions of the contract that you entered into with your new supplier. This is typical:

3.1 Your contract with us starts when you accept the Terms & Conditions in the sign-up page of the online application process.

One grey area to think about. If you used a switching site then there can be a delay in the supplier accepting your switch. If, for example, you signed up to Tariff A on MSE CEC at 10pm last night, and the supplier changed its prices at Midnight then your application may have been received/actioned after the change of tariff.
