Help please with the best way to send regular cash presents to family in Ireland (Eire). Nationwide charge £9 for transfers. Is there a better way? Many thanks!

Transferwise worked out cheaper for me.
Also, if you are being charged a flat fee (rather than a percentage of the amount you send), could you send a larger amount less frequently? Before I discovered Transferwise I was sending money once a quarter to cover monthly outgoings - it cost the same to send the larger figure but because I was only doing it 4 times a year instead of 12 the overall cost was less.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
I second Transferwise - I've used it to send money overseas plenty of times and I find them to be quite competitive in terms of the fees and exchange rates they offer0

You can use WorldRemit or Revolut both give good rates and are much cheaper than regular banks. With Revolut each person would need a free Revolut account, but with WorldRemit, you just need the app on your phone and their local bank details. It abstracts the SWIFT/IBAN interfaces making it hard to make a mistake.
With Revolut you send in GBP using the interbank FX or 0.5 above interbank outside of trading hours, its free up to £5000 then 0.5%.The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0 -

Why don't use Vistaprint? @dyv?
I have found them good in the past....
Very cheap option, post money to me and I will guarantee to get it to a worthy destination....:)
Does your current account not do cheap international transfers online? I have not tried it but Bank of Scotland charges £9.50* to send money to EEA banks but interestingly * This charge will not apply to payments in pounds sent to a bank account within the EU from our Basic Account or received from a bank account within the EU to our Basic Account.
......but I do not know the details and have not tried it recently!0 -

They have another company company called VPRewards , registered as Adaptive Affinity now, that were involved in large scale mis-selling and unauthorised use of customer credit cards after you bought business cards, and then several law suits (which failed) to try and remove posts from online forums that exposed the scam. The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0
