....is proving to be a p I t a
When I plugged my iPhone into my Mac, I kept getting error messages ,and it would not work .
I had to join iTunes music to have my library from the cloud transferred to my phone . I'm not liking that , and intend to cancel ASAP . Please don't tell me that it's another apple trick to squeeze more out of us ? I did see an error message giving me the choice of resetting my phone to factory settings, but I'm not comfortable doing that incase I lose everything .
Can someone please help?:o

Are you saying that iTunes on the iMac isn't recognising your phone? It should be a straightforward procedure allowing you to copy over music stored on the iMac. There is an Apple Support iPhone App available which lets you discuss problems via online chat (no charge and runs on IOS 11 or later).0

Thanks datostar . Yes, bizarrely enough it doesn't seem to recognise my iPhone se . I'll check that app out tomorrow .
I went into preferences on iTunes and normally on my old Mac mini , the phone would've been recognised . As my iPhone is a lot later than the iMac ( snow leopard) , it can't be recognised anymore .
You would think that my iPhone would be recognised on the new iMac ( Mojave) 2017 .
I'll explore again tomorrow ,and let you know the outcome .
My iPhone is iOS 12.0 -
Have you performed a soft reset on your iPhone SE, OP?
Which version of iTunes are you using, and are you able to upgrade your iMac beyond Snow Leopard? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

It's also occurred to me that Snow Leopard's version of iTunes may not be compatible with newer versions of IOS. After all, the MacOS has had 8 new version upgrades since that one. iTunes 11.4 seems to be the latest still compatible with Snow Leopard, see https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1774
Snow Leopard can be upgraded to El Capitan on 2007 onward iMacs, free from the Mac App Store. That would more than likely solve the problem for the OP.0 -
My windows PC reset and updated my iPhones yesterday blisteringly fast, without a problem. Even updated the software on both iPads as well at the same time.
Time you threw your apple thing in the bin!0 -
Thanks again for your input . I did confuse some of you , about snow leopard . Sorry about that
I shouldn't really have mentioned that at all .
The issue I have , is with my new Mac 2017 ( Mojave)Trying to connect my iPhone se to that .
I haven't done a soft reset on the iPhone , but if it means that I don't lose my contacts etc then that does seem like the the way to go.
I've had a time of 2's and 3's so haven't investigated just yet .
I will report back when I'm sorted .

Lightning cables, especially not made by Apple or 'Apple Certified', can be flaky on data connections but still allow charging. Might be worth trying a different cable.0
