Help with a company reporting a credit search

I recently applied for credit with Creation finance for a product on Curry’s/PC world. Initially it stated it would conduct a soft search for eligibility, I proceeded and was declined it stated they checked Equifax and provided there details to find out more.
They conducted 3 soft searches with Equifax, 1 being misspelt surname, they also conducted a hard search with Experian with the wrong DOB.
I raised a complaint and escalated to the ombudsman, who have responded with;
The soft searches aren’t a issue as only I can see these, they won’t ask for them to be removed ( I kind of agree, but the misspelt name should be removed, regardless of who can see it) they then state they will ask Creation to update the hard search with the correct DOB, and stated they won’t ask Creation to remove the search from Experian, because Creation state they use Equifax for searches but provide data to all three credit agencies.
I explained to the Ombudsman a company cannot advertise they check Equifax and then decide they provide details to all 3, the only explanation to them stating the use all 3 is; when an account is open they provide monthly updates on account conduct to all 3 agencies.
The ombudsman “investigator” doesn’t agree with me and has now advised me she will be investigating the information I provided above and try and produce facts.
As I’m not yet at the stage of having he official ombudsman providing me with their final responce I was hoping someone could clarify where I stand with the issues above, just to also add Creation haven’t checked my Callcredit report which backs up what I’m stating.

The ruling appears correct. They can search one CRA but report to others.0

But surely they would have to advertise they check in my instance - Equifax and Experian.
For instance Shop direct (Very and Littlewoods) check Equifax and Equifax only and provide an account update to Equifax Callcredit and Experian.
Shop direct advertise they use Equifax.0
