in Credit cards
Hi guys,
I have six credit cards and a store card (which I never use). I have a balance of just under £1000 on one of them, and nothing else on any of the other cards (after reading site, I plan to cancel most of them - many thanks for the helpful advice). The outstanding balance I have on this one card will be paid off by the end of the year, barring any major problems. I thought that this was going to be it for me and credit cards...but unfortunately no
I have recently got a job in central London and it is going to cost me a little under £3500 for a yearly travel card. Unfortunately I don't have the funds for this, especially as I want to clear the balance on my current card. I was hoping to get some advice on getting a credit card with 10-12 months 0% on purchases. The thing is, I need to be able to get a credit limit of £3500. The card I have a balance on right now has a limit of £2400. One of my other cards has a limit of £5000, and all my other cards hover around the £500 mark. Now, I don't really want to get another credit card (I expect I'll have to) because I don't think I'll be able to get a new card with a £3500 limit (because I have so many cards already?). I was planning to call the company I have a £5000 limit with and request a cancellation unless they can offer me 0% for 12 months (I cleared the balance on it last month)...does anyone think this may work? If not, I am open to any suggestions.
Many thanks.

Hi. Just wondering - I have worked in central London for 20 years now and every company I've worked for has given me a season ticket loan to buy my annual travel card, then taken the cost in 12 equal instalments - interest free - out of my salary. It might be worth asking your new employer if they would do that.QUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0
