What did the email say?
Besides what you have stated that wasn’t apparently there0 -

Email was a bit confusing, but could have led people to think the 5% offer was for all the spending (up to a maximum of £50 cashback) providing the £800 figure was exceeded.
The 5% cashback was on spending over a certain amount. That amount being £800 in your case; £500 in mine. It varied some one person/account to another.
From the email Aqua sent me:Your aqua card just got even better – we’re treating you to 5% cashback on spend over £500, from Black Friday to 13 January 2019.
Incidentally, I received an email from Aqua yesterday about another offer:Your aqua card is giving you an exclusive 1% cashback up to £20 when your overall spend goes over £1500 between when you opt in and 31 May 2019.0 -
I opted in when I received the offer.
I had made a note of the offer and the date that I opted in.
But did not receive the 5% cashback.
I phoned Customer Services and a complaint was raised.
Today, I received an email from one BS2, aqua Correspondence Team,
"Please be advised that you have not received Christmas cashback as you have not being opted in for it."
I phoned Customer Services again but they could not do anything.
Aqua/Newday did not send a reply to confirm that I opted in.
So I am not able to prove that I opted in.

I'm an additional cardholder on 'er indoors Barclaycard CC - each has a different number.that will be because AmEx - unlike most other card issuers - allocate separate card numbers for additional cardholders so can track her card activity separately.
I assumed that was standard practice with credit cards ?0
