Buying a new phone with Paypal...

in Credit cards
I wanted to buy a Samsung phone. There was a good deal on WowCamera.com
However, when I went to pay, it took me to a Paypal screen. My heart sank, as that meant loss of Section 75 protection.
If I decide to take the 'risk' and I pay with Paypal. Is it better to log into my Paypal account and pay using the funds there or is it better not to login and just enter my credit card details?.
They told me the Guarantee is with Samsung UK. So even if import then I am covered.....

You sure it was a paypal screen ?
Ive just done a dummy purchase and on the Create a new account screen it says "
Secure Checkout with a Debit Card, Credit Card or Paypal"
you can use a card if you wish or paypal.
Could you screenshot the page and post it ?0 -
Yes, it does say "Secure Checkout with a Debit Card, Credit Card or Paypal"
Yes it does go into a Paypal screen after that.0 -
If you are that worried about the deal, why don't you go elsewhere to make the purchase? If your argument is that the purchase price is 'too good to be true' then it probably is.
I've just looked at the site and it appears to have the PayPal logo represented as a sort of 'umbrella' payment method with the major card brands (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Amex) all contained within a box under that umbrella.
That seems to indicate you will be using a plastic card to charge up the retailer's PayPal account. I don't use PayPal, so I am only guessing, but if the PayPal account belongs to the retailer, perhaps S75 coverage will apply.
Does that make sense or am I wide of the mark with my thinking?0 -
You’ll be covered by chargeback for things like not receiving the phone etc. If you have phone insurance like most folk then use that for any issues that arise with the phone in the medium-long term.
S75 claims for phones are minuscule in my experience as customers have other provisions in place0 -

There are a few other cheaper companies, but they are based out of China. These guys seem to have good reviews and quick replies.0 -
There is a link to the Paypal terms and conditions:
