Hi guys,
very anxious about what happened today. someone parked in a private owned car park.Driver went over road to get some fish and chips. Then after eating fish and chips asked someone who looked like a local what the situation was with the car park. he said "you get 10 mins and then you have to pay, it has cameras".
Foolishly he kind of panicked and drove straight out of the car park. then checked the sign and it said about a £100 fee etc etc. He was distraught and then after 30 minutes realized he should go back and pay the daily (8am-midnight) £4.50 fee (it wasn't a pay per hour one) and he might be ok.
He paid the £4.50 fee and got a ticket.
It says on the sign
If you don't have a permit you must pay within 10 minutes of arrival.
Can anyone please advise on what to do?
Cheers

Wait and see if the keeper gets a Notice to Keeper through the post. Can anyone please advise me on what to do?
Whilst waiting it would be a good idea to edit your post to remove any clues to the driver's identity.
It was the driver that parked and it will be the keeper that receives any NtK through the post.
There is no place for the word 'I' when describing events on the day.
The PPCs monitor forums like this and can try and use your posts against you.
Having done all that, you now need to read [URL="https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread[/URL] to better understand the game you are now playing.0 -
Thanks Keith, really appreciate it.0

It was a waste of £4.50, if he was in the wrong they wont care he paid £4.50 for his second visit, they will only care about him not paying on his first visit.
They'll end up sending you a notice to keeper that doesn't comply with the legislation though so once they have done that, we'll help you sort things.Never admit to being the driver, POFA 2012 Schedule 4 is your best friend, always fight as registered keeper. Disprove keeper liability and you may be able to claim/counterclaim for data protection breach(s) and harassment. Don't just fight back, FIGHT BACK.0 -

Pirate Parker ..... for goodness sake you MUST stop MISLEADING people ..... you simply don't know what they will do
I will say again, the advice given by you could lead to people losing money. This forum works on facts ..... not fiction0 -
Depends which parking company is involved here. I don't think any regular would be so bold as to forecast a non-compliant NtK before knowing who the PPC is and what is actually contained in the NtK.Pirate_Parker wrote: »They'll end up sending you a notice to keeper that doesn't comply with the legislation though so once they have done that, we'll help you sort things.
6 years on, most PPCs are now getting Keeper Liability sorted.
@OP - 10 minutes to pay the parking charge, is this HX Parking? If not, which parking company please? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
