Hi I hope someone maybe able to help me : I have had UC claim for the past 3 months while I was awaiting my house sale - The money has just come through (today) and I immediately informed UC of this - I no longer wish to claim anymore and wish to cancel the claim - They have asked me to attend another review and for me to bring in copies of my bank statements they say "they need to verify capitol action to complete on my account"
Any help most appreciated - thanks

Sounds like they want to check you didn't have other income at the same time you were claiming ...now you are solvent enough to pay them back if needed. What are they going to do if you don't attend, sanction you ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Seems a bit odd.
If there was an outstanding capitol verification on the claim, it would have stopped you being paid.
Did you report a change in circumstances, that you had this new capitol, before you phoned to close the claim !The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Ah I think I see the issue now thanks - I reported the change in circumstance (house sold) 10 minutes before the appointment was made - I have added another note now to say I dont want UC anymore
and only realised I needed to report a bank change 7 days after I should have done!!

Because of the reporting of the capital, it blocks the UC agent from closing the claim off, until you have had a capital verification appointment at the Job Centre.
If they verify the capital, as received during an assessment period, then you may owe the whole of the UC payment made during the assessment period. You don't repay starightaway. They will add a letter to your UC journal at some point, asking you to contact a different department to settle the debt. The comments I post are personal opinion.
