PiP Mandatory Reconsideration

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have applied for PiP & received a payment into my account this morning. I called the DWP who confirmed that I have been awarded standard rate care component. I sought advice before applying and it was said on 2 occasions that I should get both components at the enhanced rate. I understand that this advice isn't gospel & it is down to the DWP but I do feel that the correct amount of points can't have been allocated.
I have requested a copy of the face to face assessors report which I will also check to ensure everything was documented properly.
I am aware that if I ask for a mandatory reconsideration, I run the risk of them reducing the points and possibly losing what I have but my question is, if this does happen, would I have to pay back the money that they have given me?
Thanks

Most MR decisions remain the same and there's only an 18% chance of the decision changing. You will not have to pay back any award/money paid if the decision means you lose your current award.fibromummy wrote: »Hi,

When requesting the MR you should put this in writing stating where you think you should have scored those points and your reasons why.
Sending any extra evidence you have with the letter of request. Be prepare to take it to Tribunal as most do.
I'd advise getting some face to face advice with this.0 -

Thank you both for your replies. There is so much to take in that it gets a bit confusing after a while.
Something that wasn't very clear is, if they do reconsider & give me a higher rate, will that only be backdated to my original decision date & not my application date?0 -
