Car Insurance Claim - after buying new policy

Hi,

A week ago, I had a bump on the last day of my policy.

I had already paid for a new policy with a different provider.

If I make a claim on the old policy, will I have to pay a surcharge on the new policy even though I have already paid for it?

Thanks

They will obviously now have to requote based on your now reduced NCB ( even if a non fault accident until your NCB is reinstated.

Probably. The same thing happened to me this year, I told the new insurer and the premium increased by £50.

Your new insurer quoted you on the basis that the info you gave would apply at the policy start date

Now that is not the case, you need to inform them about this incident/loss irrespective of whether or not you make a claim

Any claim has to be with your old insurer. Should you decide not to claim and pay for the repairs yourself you would still need to inform "both" insurance companies - All there in the small print of the T&Cs.
