Wireless Thermostat Relay connections
Just looking here if there is anyone who has had similar issues - our wireless thermostat keeps intermittently dropping its connection to its relay box..
We had a Honeywell DT92e wireless thermostat and associated 7 day programmer installed last year when we upgraded our boiler to from its original ancient incarnation (previous owner - just moved in at the time). The relay box for the wireless stat is installed on the wall in the airing cupboard upstairs, but is at least 30cm away from the hot water cylinder/anything metal.
The thermostat is installed on the wall downstairs; and is about 5-6m away distance wise; so it has to wireless connect through 1 ceiling, and 1-2 walls. All of our internal walls are 3" breeze block (1970's property).
We've tried moving the thermostat all around the house, and apart from when its literally right outside the airing cupboard door, can't get a "strong" signal - even when standing in the next room right behind it. This is presumably why it keeps dropping out - according to Honeywell specs its meant to be able to go through several walls and ~30m range! We're going to get a replacement installed as it sounds like a dodgy stat; but wondering if we will just get the same issue again - surely we can't be the only one with a relay box installed in a cupboard! Has anyone else had similar problems?

I've got eight (yes 8) Danfoss programmable wireless stats in my bungalow and they've all been happliy communicating with their respective relay units without any problems for the past eight years.
The furthest is about 10 metres diagonally across three breeze block walls so if you are unhappy with the Honeywell then it might be worth trying another brand.
You could check if it's possible to change channels or reset the wireless connection. Have you got a Dect phone or router anywhere close. It might even consider a stst which works in a different frequency band a lot work on 2.4ghz which is the same as most wifi routers so see if you can get one that operates at 800mhz
My daughters have the earlier version of this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Salus-RT510RF/dp/B072KL746L/ref=pd_sbs_60_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B072KL746L&pd_rd_r=a3ac6fec-fc6a-11e8-a264-19c21d2ec568&pd_rd_w=KmHzs&pd_rd_wg=xa2wE&pf_rd_p=18edf98b-139a-41ee-bb40-d725dd59d1d3&pf_rd_r=TJR61QV1YE5MDH311CFC&psc=1&refRID=TJR61QV1YE5MDH311CFC in their respective homes and they are both more than happy with them. I've checked the specifications, and apparently they transmit on ~868mHz so won't be getting any interference from wifi signals (router runs 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies. The "connection" between the relay box and the stat is preset at the factory; although you can rebind if it drops communication; which is what I've been having to do on a semi-regular basis.
This is what I mean though - it should be able to talk comfortably at that distance no problem with a strong signal. I've been over the install instructions and the only point that is different is that its not in an "open" area - don't exactly want a white box just plonked on the wall though - can't be the only person with it installed like this...0 -
Can't offer any suggestions but to swap it out. TBH you'd probably have better control of your system with a programmable stat.
Have you checked the Honeywell website, there are instructions on how to do a wireless survey for your stat https://heatingcontrols.honeywellhome.com/professional-zone/resource-centre/product-videos/Binding-Specific-Honeywell-Wireless-Room-Thermostats-to-the-wireless-relay-box-BDR91/Conducting-a-Wireless-Signal-Strength-test-using-a-Honeywell-DT92E-Wireless-Thermostat
As I said I've got eight stats working into three triple receiver/relay units, two which connect to five stats are fairly open but hidden with an u/f heating manifold and controller behind a radiator cover in the hall.
The third receiver which communicates with three stats (including the one with the longest range) is tucked behind the hot water tank and installed with the second u/f floor controller, the motorised valve and a host of plumbing in the utilily room so it's not ideally located.
All my stats are Danfoss TP7000-RFNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Does it have a switch to change the radio frequency/0

Not that I can see in the instructions. I've also changed the batteries in case they were the issue.0

I bought this house already renovated. The boiler itself has no time controls, but there is a wirelss receiver/ Somewhere hidden there must be a wireless transmitter/thermostat, as without me doing anything, the boiler comes on and off morning and evening. [ I can over-ride this ]. How can I find the transmitter ? I suspect it must be behind a kitchen unit, but there are several to choose from,0
