Extra Energy Refund
Options
I switched Suppliers from Extra Energy to Pure Planet last month and received a letter from Extra Energy the day before they went bust. It stated that I would receive a £150 credit refund by direct debit around 30/11/2018, but of course I have not received anything.
Does anyone know what my next step should be in trying to reclaim this money?

SP will contact you in due course. It may take a month or two as they will likely concentrate their efforts getting current customers up and running but your credit is safe.0

Thanks for the reply Molerat. I just wondered whether they would be honouring Extra Energy debts as I had already left them, and so not automatically transferred to Scottish Power.0

Forgive my ignorance, but who is SOLR?0

Found it, supplier of last resort0

From the uSwitch website:-
It’s not unusual for a customer to have a credit of more than £100 at the end of summer, prompting new rules from Ofgem to protect customers who may be in credit at the time of a supplier failure. However, if you try to switch to a new supplier before your SoLR has been confirmed, you may lose any credit balance you had.
So as I suspected, I may be in a tricky situation as I was not an Extra Energy customer on the day they went bust.
I think that I need to contact Ofgem for advice,0 -

Reply from Ofgem:-
Thank you for contacting Ofgem.
Scottish Power are responsible for the refund of any credit balances on both open and closed Extra Energy accounts. I cannot confirm a timeline for this process as the administrators must go through the accounts before passing the information on to Scottish Power.0 -

The way things are going with these small suppliers recently, I suspect that we will have to write potential failed supplier credits into our wills for our descendants to chase:rotfl:0 -
In my experience with two failed energy companies GB Energy and Iresa) it seems to take around three months to get your credit back from the new supplier possibly a bit longer if the old supplier's accounts were in a bit of a shambles.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
