Stop Further Bank Charges

I have contacted the Halifax today because they keep adding charges on top of charges to my account even though i have told them i cannot afford to pay-found out today that you can get something called a TRI put on the account-dont know what that stands for-neither did the girl i spoke to at the Halifax-but basically it puts a stop on your account so NO FURTHER DEBITS _ INCLUDING CHARGES- can be applied to the account- this means you will not get charges on top of charges thus increasing your debt-of course it doesnt get rid of existing debt on account but stops it increasing- you can also make arrangements for a company called payplan to get involved via the Halifax to ask them to reduce the amount outstanding -effectively getting some of your charges back- and then agree to pay them a small amount back monthly- amount depends on your ingoings and outgoings-this way you will not be blacklisted they tell me-in the process of going ahead with this so will post eventual outcome but reckon its worth a try to get Banks of your back looking for outstanding arrears.Assume other Banks have the same facility but branches of Halifax seem to have kept this option quiet.
