Volunteer work in a hospital

I'd be unhappy if they were allowing any Tom, Richard or Harriet access to their admin or records, without adequate checks.
First time I've had to edit a post because of the swear filter!0 -
I can't imagine many people would volunteer to do filing at their local hospital - though that would be altruistic.Originally Posted by shortcrust

Don't forget hospices and care/nursing homes - especially those which are not funded publicly and rely heavily on volunteers in a range of roles.
Googling on 'hospital volunteers' gets you all the links you ever hope for!0 -
I didn’t say all jobs didn’t require them but there are many trusts that only DBS some jobs.0

This is what you find on most adverts now which the “IF” bit indicates not all roles are subject to a check....
“Please note that it is a requirement of this employer that all successful applicants pay for their own DBS certification if a DBS check is required for the post. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first monthly pay.“0 -
all admin roles, all NHS roles require a DBS of one type or another as far as I'm aware.
Not true, I've worked for five NHS Trusts over the last 13 years and have never had a DBS or equivalent to do my job. (I have a DBS for work I've done outside the NHS). I have very little patient contact, but do have access to patient records.0 -
15 years as an archivist, I had access to near on a million records, never was I DBS checked0

Thank you. I have no reason to disbelieve you but it could be incompetence on behalf of the management as all clerical work leads to access to the details of vulnerable people of all ages, I'm surprised.0
