Does anyone have a WIX website?

I've been considering creating a FB page, I already have a wall. The aim was to create a local amenities page/site. Unsure whether to go along the FB route or create a free wix website. It wouldn't be a complicated thing.
What I don't know, is would there be an option for readers to contribute posts on a wix site, much as can be done on a FB page?.

If you want people to contribute and post as and when, get Facebook to handle it all.
Because Wix is free and companies don't do stuff like this for nothing, expect your Wix site to be plastered in advertising and to be nagged to upgrade if you want to do anything advanced.0 -

I came up with wix, simply because it had a gold award in webuser, I'm aware there are other free options, would they push advertising? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you don't want advertising all over your site you will need to pay for a solution that doesn't have advertising. If you want it for free accept that advertising will be part of the deal.0

Once you join Wix, its difficult to move elsewhere. I'd go and get yourself a free Wordpress site to start with and build from there.0

Really,? Tell me why them please. I'm in the learning process. Itching to get this going, lot of groundwork done ie information gathered. But, ideally I would like anyone to he able to drop stuff in as it's aim is to be for the community of our area. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Like anyone to be able to drop stuff in the site. So when one user gets a virus they infect everyone that uses the site. Hope you get some insurance.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Highly unlikey.
Even if you could build a way of uploading to a wix site, they will have AV running on their servers.0 -

You can't have multiple users on a wix account - FAQ here
So that won't do what you need as far as contributions go - unless they email them to you to post.
A Facebook page and/or group depending on how much admin you want to be doing may be best.
Alternatively you could look at creating a forum as this sounds closer to what you need. I think ProBoards is still free, with advertising.
Facebook groups are a similar thing but all content gets pushed down with new posts, so its not great for highlighting or finding older things. With a forum you can arange sub forums and such making organisation better. The downside is getting people to find it and sign up in the first place - With facebook you have a wide audience from the start.0
