Joining civil Service alpha pension scheme at 49?

Just joined a new job and been offered the chance to join the defined benefit scheme (alpha) or defined contribution scheme.
I've actually been auto-enrolled onto alpha but need to confirm I'm happy to stay in it I think. I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be thinking about with my situation and age (49).
Bit of context. I'm not intending to retire until 65-67 and can theoretically work till then in this role, and the alpha option sounds attractive. The only spanner in the works is that I have a pension fund (about £30k+) from a previous job currently being looked after by Legal and General, which I'd like to transfer to the alpha if possible.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Not sure why you're posting on the Redundancy board ?
This is a question that's been raised a few times over on the Pensions board

Alpha is a pretty good scheme so I strongly suspect the recommendation will be to stay in it.
I think you'll be able to get a quote from 'myCSP' (who provide the admin for Civil Service Pensions) as to how much your £30k would buy you in alpha (assuming you can transfer it in).0 -
Thanks for the reply and I posted here by mistake!
Will head over the Pensions etc!
Thanks
