First time flat buyer, good book?

Hello, can anyone recommend a good book on how to buy a leasehold property? I've never done anything like this before.

I've been given a copy of this book:

"Which?" Way to Buy, Own and Sell a Flat ("Which?" Consumer Guides) Paperback

But it's the second edition from 2000.

Is the stuff in that still relevant 20 years on? There doesn't seem to be much published recently specifically for leasehold.

Thanks.

Either way but one with your eyes wide open. There’s a thread further down where they doubled the leasehold fee this year. It’s not for the faint hearted

Make sure you ask to see a copy of the lease at an early stage - that will alert you to any problem like ground rent doubling every 10 years as well as the length of the lease. Also ask to see the service charge demands.

You need on check these for yourself before spending money on solicitors because EAs are notoriously inaccurate on such things.

The lease will also tell you useful things like whether you are banned from keeping a pet and whether you would have to pay a fee for permission to sublet.
