I would like to buy a house, needing a mortgage obviously, i believe my credit history is good for the last few years, however I have had a house repossessed approximately 10 years ago, I don't even know exactly when, there was a shortfall, which I was informed about but never settled not contacted about again
Anything I need to do, or say, or not say ?

Get a copy of your credit files and see what it says on those. Ignore the score, just focus on the content. The contents are what the mortgage company will judge you on.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I believe that, for a mortgage shortfall, the staute of limitations means that you can be chased for 12 years from the date of the shortfall for any outstanding amount.
If this is so then applying for a mortgage could wake up someone to start chasing you for the shortfall as you still have about 2 years to go and you could end up with demands for repayment.0 -
How would I find out the date of the shortfall?0
