Gas usage input

I noticed the gas kw usage isn't just the meter read but in fact the meter read figure is part of a formula. That calculates the actual kw usage.
My question is when using an energy comparison site and if I want to enter in my annual usage, should I be using the start and end meter reading from the beginning and end of a year or do I need to do something with this formula. I want understand whether the kw unit rate I am looking at is in relation to just the meter reading or the formula which the meter reading is a part of?
Thanks

Your meter is reading the volume of gas used. If you have submitted readings to your supplier your bills should have the annual gas consumption in kWh on them They also have details of how to convert from units on your meter to kWh.

Approximately if your meter is cu.ft. you multiply the difference by 32, and if the meter is in cu.m. then multiply by 11.
