Arguing Electricity Usage

  • Well, you learn something new. When I first read about the new cap, there were lots of £1k plus figures being bandied around. I took those to be a definitive max, but, as has been said on here, they were examples base on average usage.
Qu! Sera - not an issue to me on my £35 a month deal.

I hope you have not also misunderstood this £35 month deal?
It is not all you can eat for £35 a month, that is an estimate of your annual cost divided by 12

The real cost is whatever your meter readings are, I hope you are now reading the meter at least monthly and comparing your reading with the reading on your bill, and importantly querying any discrepancy

I echo this - £35 is very low.

As you've been in your new flat since May what have your bills really been like - assuming you've been giving regular meter readings.

Post your opening meter readings from May and today's readings and we can do some sums for you.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I'd be very concerned if I was only paying £35 a month for my energy - at a pinch I can get away with that during the summer (May to September) but I'd expect to be paying nearer £150 a month in Decemebr through to February with a bit less in Oct/Nov and March/April.

As Farway suggests I would be keeping a very close eye on my meter readings & bills otherwise I can forsee a very nasty shock coming at the end of March whilst you wonder what gone wrong again

£35 a month is feasible - I know of at least 2 people - both single households living in new builds - who pay £25 a month each for their energy and those payments are based on actual monthly readings over the last 18 months.
  • Help please, simple sums

I was asking the question how can we help users of electric heating, budget their bills with simplified costs, ie NOT 15.929p per kWh, but 16 or 20p per kWh. Just nice easy to understand figures.

Don't blind them with your knowledge and it's not me your trying to impress, it's helping those who are asking for our help.
