Replace 1 Storage heater on Econ. 7
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to replace just 1 storage heater on economy 7 with an electric stove heater?
Wanting to keep all the other storage heaters but replace 1 large ugly storage heater in the lounge for a more attractive Dimplex Opti-Myst Electric Stove.

The Dimplex heater is not a like for like replacement, and can not be connected to the same supply used by the storage heater. The supply to the storage heater is only live during off-peak hours (ie during the night), and the Dimplex heater needs to a supply for the regular "peak" supply. So you might need a some works done.
It will also change the temperature profile in the room as you will loose the output from the storage heater throughout the day. Depending on your tariff the Dimplex heater will cost more to run if you use it for more than about 2.5 hours (a day) at full power.0 -
Hi mari01
If you wired the Dimplex in place of the storage heater you would be using the high rate electric to heat your room.
They are different systems. The storage heaters are charged overnight (when electricity costs less) and release during the day. The Dimplex is a plug and play device.
You can have both or remove the storage heater and plug the Dimplex into a nearby socket.0
