Halifax sending out new security numbers by mistake

I currently bank with Halifax, and received a new security number from them in the post. I had not requested this, so I was perplex!!
I contacted the bank by telephone, and was told the bank has been sending these out by mistake.
I thought my bank account may of been hacked!!
The bank advised I could used the new number whenever I call.
Did anyone else get this number???

Better to use the 'my voice is my password' facility when phoning- easy to remember and hard to clone!
No, I haven't received any security number from them- I don't do online banking with them , that may be the difference.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
