Panosonic microwave failed

Last night went to use the microwave oven and it was dead, checked the socket and the fuse in the plug all ok, today I removed the cover (I know high voltage inside) power up to transformer ok and fuse on transformer ok. No signs of burning or smell and all wires connected ok.
Oven is a Panasonic less than five years old, previous one was a Sharp oven and grill had it for 15 years and still working when we changed it.
Do not use a microwave every day a fairly low use item in our kitchen, new one ordered but just wondered how long you should expect a microwave oven to last.

Depends.
How much is cost? (Decent ones are at least 900w and over £100)
How you treat it? (Leaving the door open for it to dry, clean it ever?)
Is it one of those horrible undersized modern ones that are just junk? (under 900w and under 25litre capacity).
Even then it's just down to the throw of a dice. Even if they last 20 years on average yours can die the day after the waranty end, some will.
I'd say near 5 years is good going for the modern junk. You get what you pay for and because people don't want to pay we all get junk. Usual short term thinking.0 -

But the stuff inside a microwave is very dangerous, so the only thing I'd add is if one goes wrong either call a professional or dump it and buy a new one."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0
