Car Insurance - 2nd car

My mum is letting me have her Skoda Octavia, however the cost of the insurance may make it a no go.
I'm the main driver on our car insurance policy so I have the 'No Claims' discount. Direct Line have informed me that I can only use my 'no claims' on the one car.
My partner is a named driver on our car so does not have any 'no claims' of his own but would get a 'named driver' discount.
Therefore the quote has gone up from £272 (when I thought I could used my no claims) to £560 which was a bit of a surprise.
We're now getting quotes in my partners name, with no claims discount but are still looking at paying over £400.
Does this sound about right? Is there anything we can look at to reduce the price?

£400 sounds very reasonable to me considering he has no NCB......0

Depends on ages of drivers, experience and importantly where you live. £400 sounds reasonable.0
