I live overseas and my cable internet and TV are being discontinued and we will get TV and internet through Fibre.

I don't need a faster internet speed for my situation, currently get 80Mbps on an 100Mbps line and this is easily enough for me.

The new fibre will be 1 Gbps.

I use a TP Link AV 600 powerline set up to get internet in my study.

Can I still use this when 1 Gbps is started??

Or should I get a faster Homeplug.

I was told that TP Link aren't great but I haven't had any problems over the last two years of use.

It was suggested that Aztech are better Homeplugs and Aztech Smart Link Homeplug AV2 1200 Mbps was suggested.

Any thoughts on any of this???
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

You will get a difference of opinion depending on people's philosophy. For 99.9% of internet applications you won't really see a difference between those speeds. So just carry on as you are.
The other way of looking at it is that the homeplugs are introducing a slight bottleneck that could be removed for a few pounds.
TPlink are fine. The problem with powerlines and networking in general is that you have to understand them. This involves a little effort and time reading the instructions. They need pairing and some need a little bit of setting up. People just want them to work without any effort and it doesn't work like that.

I can't imagine anything a home user would do where he would notice the difference between 600mps and 1gbps.
If you are downloading something big, like an operation system from the internet, your download will be limited by the person you're download it from.

The only situation where you would bother upgrading from AV600 would be if you have more than one person using it at the same time, eg streaming UHD video.

I have TP-Link adapters, they work fine

You can use your existing kit with a faster internet connection. The Homeplugs will limit the speed you get via them. Be aware that you cannot buy homplugs that will have a 1Gbps transfer speed.

The Homeplug speeds are quoted half duplex which means the maximum theoretical speeds you can get through them is half the number on the box. In the real world the speeds you actually get with them will be lower than that.

Even if you buy the fastest homeplugs available they will still throttle your 1Gbps internet connection. Whether you mind is another matter.

It also depends on how you are connecting to the network. For example, if you're using wi-fi, you will rarely see those speeds.
That being said, on the internet side of things, you will only need gigabit speeds if you are watching 4K or ultra-high definition movies, otherwise for general browsing 80 Mbps are more than enough.
