Anyone used AVRillo before (https
/ avrillo.co.uk)? I'm based in London.
To cut a long story short had actually instructed myHomeMove but within 5min the EA calls back and said they've had terrible experiences dealing with them and suggested I try look for another firm. So I'm back on the hunt for a conveyancer
Thanks

why did you pick them, reviews e.t.c?
Why not pick one local near you? word of mouth e.t.c.? what ever you do don't use the EA ones"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I felt sure I'd seen that name before but a forum search for AV Rillo turns up only one thread.0

came across them via a random google search.. then went through their reviews and seemed alright..
I would definitely prefer local so if anyone has some good experiences with any in London please let me know. The ones I got quotes from all came in around £2000+ (that's everything including disbursements and VAT etc but not stamp duty).
given that myHomeMove and London&Country quotes came in at £1550 or so... I would expect high street conveyancers to be in the vincinity of £1700-£18000 -
I've had really good experiences with Cunningtons. They're a conveyancing warehouse, so of course it depends on who you get assigned, but I've used them twice now and heading into a third time, after having had a really poor experience with a small local firm. I've never once called them and not had the person I wanted to speak to either pick up, or call me back within a couple of hours.0

Persoanlly I'd walk into 3 local firms in your High Street. Compare quotes and also compare your reception. Choose based on how you feel about them as well as the price.
Myself I prefer to deal with a smaller local firm (2-3 partners) where you know the partner you'll be dealing with, rather than a large corporate firm with multiple offices/partners/underlings.0 -
just wanted to post back and thank everyone for their comments and help. Eventually went with a place called Fletcher Longstaff. And just in case anyone else reads this thread later on, I did talk to AVRillo but found they were very sales oriented and fees weren't transparent0

This. I got referred to them by an EA. Someone rang me and I asked her about a Declaration of Trust to set out the terms of shared ownership, she said something along the lines of "yes yes we'll take care of all your trusts don't you worry". I promptly called a reputable local firm, who immediately answered all the questions I had so I went with them.
Sure, some companies like this might be money saving, but sometimes it's just not worth the headache.0 -
I absolutely hate conveyancing firms ... the house sale I am going through at the min is far from easy and initially through dealing with a power of attorney who were advised by the EA to go through there's I was nearly going to pull out as I would be relying on them to go through a really difficult process ..Thankfully after a week it was changed to a firm I knew and a sigh of relief went through me .
I have used the same firm for over 30 years and have absolute confidence in them.. Still a difficult process but all the stages have been processed efficiently and without delay
I'd rather spend a bit more and get excellent service than trying to save money on what is a very stressful process
However we still had a bit of a !!!! up at the beginning with what we thought to be vendors solicitor but it appears the fault was with PA's who don't have the internet and are very unclear when they should return the right documents and to whom and no sense of urgency !!0
