Problem with telephone calls is they often become an I said/He said thing and sometimes when we talk to these people they are often quite pedantic which causes us stress. Then of course they claim that you were abrupt with them etc. Personally I would have gone down the road of putting the whole thing in writing sent recorded delivery. Not to late to resort to that approch in my opinion. When putting things in writing I find it focuses the mind and gets rid of the stress helping you to outline your case gar clearer. Lets be sensible here. You had an accident and the aftremath caused you stress which caused you to delay in soring everything out. That is ectenuating circumstances. The third party was prosecuted so that only enhances your case. Are you out of pocket - excess for example? That should be subject to a claimfor uninsured losses, if you win your case (which you hve) then it is normal to submit a claim for them.

I gotta disclose that a policy has been cancelled based on unreasonable grounds.
Find the best quotes then contact your potential insurer and explain the reason for the cancellation. A policy ending early isn't the same as a policy being cancelled.

Ask your old insurer how they define the cancellation and to define it when searching for new quotes.
