Almost escaping Economy Energy
Options
I finally escaped Economy Energy on 7th November when my new provider Bulb informed me that my tranfer to them was complete. EE vaguely acknowledged in a text to me on 19th October that I was leaving them. But I've not had a word from them since.
Despite that, two days after my transfer on 7th November, Economy Energy took their monthly direct debit which I would have assumed they would have stopped. So I cancelled it. This month 7th December (and despite Bulb telling me that EE should be refunding me what I am owed by them by 19th December) I have had snotty emails from EE today demanding that my DD is reinstated. Is there any limit to the awful disorganisation of this provider?
I have heard they are often reluctant to refund so I have emailed them to confirm what has happened and await their inadequate response. I note that their automated replies have gone from 'we'll get back to you within 5 working days', to 10 working days. So I suppose AFTER the date I am supposed to be refunded by.
Bulb's communication and organisation and their metre reading app have been a breath of fresh air compared to the nightmare that is Economy Energy, and as I suspected, it's going to be a while before I am free from this debarcle.
Has anyone else come across this situation when leaving EE and what was the outcome?
With thanks.

I had a reply back from them in an untimely fast fashion, saying 'oh yes, we see your account was closed on 7th November. You need to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the final invoice to be processed'. No mention about why the red direct debit letters, and I don't know if the 6 to 8 weeks is from their response of 2 days ago, or from 7th November. I've asked for clarification on that.0
