Injured after car accident - Personal injury claim etc.

Money won't remove the injuries but will go towards potential treatment costs and loss of earnings (my job has quite a minimal sick day policy and I've already taken a couple of days off). I'm definitely not one to make false claims (and would not risk breaking the ethical code of the professional body I'm a member of, either) but don't want to be out of pocket for something that wasn't my fault.
You seem to be misunderstanding what you are claiming for.
The compensation element is nothing to do with your costs/losses as a result of the accident. You can claim for loss of earnings as well as treatment as well as damages to property. With my incident (car hit me on a bicycle) the other insurer offered to pay for physio but it was cheaper and easier to go via my own physio, fortunately at work we had at least 2 weeks paid sick so I didn't need to claim for loss of earnings as I was only off a week but I also claimed for repairs (new helmet, bike service) and losses (such as bike rides I had organised that I couldn't attend).Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
