Pet Prescription

Never asked for one before, but as my cat is on regular ongoing medication, I am horrified that I can get the same drugs online for half the price!

What do I ask the vet for - just a prescription? Do you think it will affect the relationship we have?

It shouldn't affect the relationship but there will be a charge for the prescription. You need to check how many months the vet is willing to do the prescription for, how much it will cost, and whether it is then still worth it.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Its always 3 monthly. I was in the vets the other day and a lady came in and said she had come to collect her prescription, and then she paid £12 for it. This got me thinking.... Even with the £12 charge, its still a massive savings.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Our vet charges £15 for a prescription and was more than happy to give us one when we asked. The prescription was for enough tablets to last about 5 months. It saved us about £150 even taking into account the prescription charge. The vet even asked us at our last appointment if we needed another one yet. Don't be afraid to ask, a good vet will happily provide one for you.

My vet charges £15 for a prescription and it was for six months worth of heart tablets for my girl.
  • I am due to collect a prescription for the first time later today, some Propalin Syrup for our dog. The vet is charging £20 and I don't yet know if it is for three or six months. Even for three months it will be a big saving but I will try to get one for six months in the future. 30ml at the vet is £23 and online 100ml is £21.80 plus £1.99 postage.
Thanks to this forum for another thread with a list of online vet suppliers. :)
