UKPC flooded site

aHaving just moved to a new area, I was met with a parking charge notice on my first visit to a local retail park.

It was absolutely chucking it down when I arrived and I did not see the regulations which are high up on lamposts.

I drive a large Hi-top MWB van.

The only available spaces were too narrow & too short for my vehicle. I opted for an area which was free, but mostly underwater & unused apart from one other vehicle about ten spaces away.

I parked and realised I could not get out because of the water, so naively turned my vehicle around across what would have been two spaces had the markings been visible and at the edge so that I could step out without getting wet.

I thought I was being sensible because no other users could use the spaces. Truth is I didn't know if they were bays or not; The bay markings were underwater.

I now have a ticket with no code for £100, for doing what I thought was a reasonable thing in the circumstances; the area being flooded.

I need some advice, please, do I appeal or ignore?

Edit your post to remove information about who parked. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people. ;)
Do this before you do anything else! Parking scammers read this forum!

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.

Please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES that was just underneath the newthread.gif button, and appeal at the appropriate time using the blue template you will find there. Send it unedited from The Keeper.

The lack of markings due to flooding will be addressed at the PoPLA stage.
