Trainline : Praise and warning...

Tickets that you print off are non-replaceable. The warning bit is that you should treat these as you would cash. I can see it makes sense as they seem to have no way of cancelling tickets that have been printed.

The praise bit is that I got new tickets as a goodwill gesture (after losing mine). I think this was due to my past custom. Happily it meant I didn't have to pay over 100£ last night to catch the train this morning.

So it's actually a big praise

Why are you using The Trainline anyway, it is always more expensive than many alternatives as they charge a fee that others don't?

Tip: print to PDF. That way you can always reprint your tickets as many times as you want. ;)

If it's a ticket that you would normally print on standard A4 paper - yes. In fact the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair expect you to either use their app or print out your own boarding cards - they charge extra for receiving your boarding card at the airport check-in.

This every time. Also email it to yourself, put in Drop box, google drive etc. So you have access to the return ticket while you are away. Most places you can find somewhere to print out if needed.
