Cant see why they wouldnt take Credit cards.
It was a brand new car, not second hand... So it was a main dealership.
It will be because they are no longer allowed to charge the customer a fee for using a credit card. Many dealerships stopped taking credit cards once they were no longer allowed to charge a fee for using them.
Credit cards cost more to process than a debit card so there is no incentive to swallow up potentially hundreds in fees when you can minimise it by taking a debit card instead which generally is a set fee (<40p) per transaction, regardless of the amount spent.
The dealership let me pay the £500 deposit on a credit card (they didn't take Amex), but nothing more which is to be expected in the modern world of card fee surcharge bans!0 -
If it is a Tesla you are buying OP, I do not believe they take credit cards and it is all done online. However, since the card charges (merchant fees) were slashed at the beginning of 2018, things may have changed. You are right in thinking that you want to get some points, I would think along the same lines too.0
