TSB card expiry date

I got a replacement debit card a few weeks ago - expiry date 2024. Slightly surprised that they expected a card to be in a usable condition in over 5 years, but all seemed well, and have been using it happily since.


I then got it declined in a couple of places this morning, so went into a branch. Ah, they said, that's a problem with the long expiry date. You need a new card. Their sheet with info about this problem was printed a month before my card was sent out.


So, they know they've made a mistake with expiry dates, but they keep sending them out with the wrong date. Rather than sending a replacement beforehand, they block the old card then wait for you to complain. I know it's a small thing in the grand scheme of the TSB chaos over the last year, but it rather suggests that they still just haven't got a clue what they're doing.


On the positive side, there was no wait in the branch. I must be the last person to desert them.

Just another example of the fiasco at TSB.
I received a letter from them telling me my monthly saver account was ending in November.....oh no it was not it was due to end in December !!
