Yep, tnats is all. We often see them make an offer then discontinue, so it wasnt a huge shock!

Your time to counterclaim was whe nyou filed your defence.

What is the surprise is that they paid to have the "stay" lifted and then discontinued. (I wonder what UKCPM will say!)

However, I just received an email from Gladstones a few minutes ago, which contained a Notice of Discontinuance, stating the claimant would like to discontinue the claim!

I believe that is all!? Since the case did not actually go that far, I suppose I cannot submit a counterclaim to them at this stage?

Many thanks for everyone's help. You guys have been amazing!

Good news ....... but hey Gladstones constantly take the p*ss out of the courts, they are well overdue being sanctioned by the courts and the SRA

Nobody but nobody should trust Gladstones just as you would not trust any Rogue Trader. Contact the court for confirmation

They have wasted your time. now waste theirs. Send the PPC a claim for your time at £19.00 an hour and mileage at 45 ppm, you have up to six years to follow up.

I checked with the court and they confirmed that the case has been discontinued and the hearing listed for 11 February 2020 vacated. The file has been closed by the Court.

It is slightly disappointing that it is too late to counterclaim them, but I'm happy that it's finally over! Thanks all!!

You could issue a claim against them, just not a counter claim. However you'd need grounds and to understand how to evidence with reference to applicable laws, what your case is.
