"Prepay is cheapest"

After a year of trying to get EDF to switch me from prepay to credit meters, I've just had a conversation with them and they verbally swore to me that prepay meters are the cheapest energy I can get, cheaper even than credit meters. Is this really true or am I being played for a fool?!

I'm on the BIue+Fixed Prepay January 2019 plan, which comparisons keep telling me is cheap, but this is comparing prepay energy only.

Thanks in advance from a forum newbie! :)

Another poster a couple a few months ago made exactly the same comment..And he was correct when compared to suppliers standard/variable rates.. I checked the comp sites and at that time prepay electric rates were 3 p/kwh less than many standard variable rates..
The best fixed deals were still beating them but not massively so ..
It was all because of the price cap on prepayment meter tariffs. EDF are probably right but do a check on say, UKpower.co.uk comparison website. I d be surprised if they were nt telling the truth
  • Thank you! :)

I guess I'll just check again in January when the fixed plan comes to an end.

If you know your annual usage choose any credit account as your own. The comparison will be nonsense but it will show what's available with a credit meter.
