Problem with credit rating

Options
Hi all, first post so please play nice.

I am having a problem with my credit history or rather lack of it, but only with one CRA.

I have an active credit card, I have had and loans in the past and paid them back without defaulting as well as things such as 0% finance deals from Currys PC World etc. but one credit reference agency (Noddle) still shows that I have no credit history - not that I have a poor one, but that I have not built one up.

This has caused me some issues recently when I was looking at mortgage deals with a mortgage advisor who would only use Noddle.

I emailed Noddle directly and got a standard response about how to build my credit history rather then them acknowledging that they haven't recorded the credit history I actually do have!

Any advice on how I can fix this would be very much appreciated.

  • Hi Joebob and welcome to the forum :)

Why not have a look at your Statutory credit report from Noddle's parent company TransUnion (ex CallCredit)? It is also free.

If there is a problem you need to raise a complaint, not just email them.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks for that info - I am slightly concerned that they require my Credit/Debit Card details in order to give me my free report though! Is that legit?
  • Yes it’s to verify identity
  • Not all lenders report to all CRAs so you might be missing out on one or two accounts because of this, but I find it unlikely that ALL your credit accounts have not reported to TransUnion. As suggested, I'd request a statutory report to make sure it's not just an issue with Noddle. Otherwise you will need to lodge a formal complaint to try and get your reports updated.
