LV Critical Illness Claim - over a year old and still awaiting a decision

Can anyone on here help me please...
In Oct 2017 I had a seizure in my sleep and was put in an induced coma, having spent a week in intensive care I recovered and made a claim on my LV CIC policy in Nov 2017.
The policy document allows the seizure (bleed on the brain) to be claimed as a minor condition which is a partial payment.
The issue I'm having is now my claim is 13 months old LV are refusing to make a decision on the claim, as they keep going back to the hospital to ask for more and more information (despite the policy document not highlighting any of this in the T&C).
- their claims team have not contacted me since Aug '18
- their complaints team are not providing any support
- the FOS are only interested in any financial loss I have suffered therefore can't help
- 3rd party solicitors can only help once LV have made a claim
I honestly don't know what to do next as surely they can't keep taking my £70 a month premium and avoid making a decision a claim that now approaching 400 days without a decision being made?

Have you made a formal complaint?
Whenever you are unhappy with your insurer the route to go down is a formal complaint in line with their complaints procedure
Then if you are unhappy with the reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication, all at no cost to you0 -

Thank you both for your replies.
1 - I've made the complaint to LV directly and they simply blame the NHS for not giving them the information they requested, however they won't share with me what had been received even though I am the data subject
2 - the FOS won't review it as LV have yet to make a decision hence there is no financial loss
I am shocked that LV can keep taking £70 a month from me while they are now approaching 400 days and still yet to make a decision on my claim.
At this rate my wife will be claim again on my life insurance policy!
Honestly anyone that can help please let me know0 -

This IS your financial loss; that no decision has made and that the claim has not been settled within a reasonable timeframe.
When was your formal complaint submitted to LV? When did you receive their Final Decision Letter?0 -
LV took a year to make a decision on a complaint I made about the handling of a car insurance claim; not good I'm afraid but I did eventually get some compensation and a random bottle of wine of all things.0
