Hi Guys,
Please can you advise me.
I have an awful credit rating and I also have a lodger.
Would my credit rating affect my lodgers ability to gain credit as he has been refused credit lately & seems to think it is because of my credit status.
We are not associated financially in any way & I have checked my credit report and his name does not appear.
Please can somebody let me know if it is my fault he cannot get credit?
Thank you
Denise

No. Credit files belong to individuals, not addresses.0

Thank you for your reply.
Does that include utility bills?
Thank you

Unless you both have your names on the same bill, you will not be associated.0

I will ask him to check his credit. I just wanted to clarify that it isn't my fault.0 -
Were you a joint applicant for this credit?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Unless the two of you are financially linked (ie. you are both named on a single joint account, such as a bank account or utility account) then your credit history will not affect your lodger's and vice versa. Credit files belong to individuals, not addresses so you can both live together and have very different credit-worthiness in the eyes of lenders.0

Hi mamaden,
Have they recently moved into your address, and are they on the electoral register at your address?
Short residency and not on the electoral register may negatively impact an application.0
