Hotel charged me twice
Comments
-
contact your cc, tell them you have been charged twice, ask them to reverse the £1700
-
Give the pub time to respond.
In the absence of a satisfactory response contact the credit card company.
Don't mention discounts etc.
Simply state that you stayed at the pub for 1 night on x date and paid using their card - copy of credit card receipt attached.
Inform them that your card has now been billed a second time for an amount of £170. Tell them you have had no further contact with the pub, have not stayed there a second time, that the charge was not authorised by yourself and that you wish to dispute it on those grounds.0 -

I won't go in to details, but no heating, windows blowing a gale,no breakfast, sent across the road to a greasy spoon with a "voucher" for breakfast, only to be told by the GS owner that he could not accept them! Rather than get anyone into trouble, paid the bill for food and went back to complain in pub.
The guy was amicable and apologetic and we agreed the discount.
I should have put a review on Tripadvisor but just wanted out as we just wanted to get home an lick our wound, so to speak. a word of advice: DON'T TRUST TRIPADVISOR.
Of course people can't trust trip advisor when people have a bad experience but don't post about it! The whole point is to give an honest and fair summary of the trip which you can do later, that will have no impact on the issue of your chargeback for the double bill.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Bit unfair on Trip Advisor. You say don't trust them yet haven't reviewed the place so others can benefit from your experience. How else would anybody know they are not everything they claim to be.0 -
Thanks for all your advice. Emailed the pub several times and phoned them also, but no response from either. I now notice that the place is not now listed on Booking.com so I'll give it a couple of tries to get in touch - but it looks like I'm going via Mbna. Will update when i get any info.0

Hi diamond Dave
Good idea to get in touch with mbna
Odds are it will still be listed just unavailable on the dates you checked but it doesn’t matter as you’ve still booked through them so incase mbna aren’t of help (practically impossible considering the facts) then you can still get in touch with booking.com
Good luck0 -
Hi all, just a quick update: rang MBNA and they were brilliant. checked everything on the account, tried ringing the pub (no answer) so refunded the £170 to the cc. The pub has 45 days to reply but fingers crossed all should be fine. Thanks to all who helped and advised. Merry Christmas.0
