I want to share some pics (about 250) with some people I met on holiday.
Clearly emailing them would not be feasable.
If I open a Flickr account, will I be able to just email a link to my friends so they can see them and download them to their own PC, or do they too need a Flickr account?
Any advice for alternative methods gratefully received!

Yes you can do that, either make the album public or you can create a private album and send them a link. They don't need Flickr accounts to view.0

That will work.
Or if you are just looking to send them the photos then you can use a free service like dropbox.com0
