That's a better exchange rate than you'd get with HSBC
Speaking of HSBC, when they failed to process a CHAPS transfer for me on the day requested they did it next day for free...and gave me £200 for my trouble. This was around 7 years ago.
It wasn't for a property purchase, but I was embarrassed (and inconvenienced) by their incompetence and told them so!
.
You asked how much compensation to ask for - well I would start with getting a refund of the CHAPS fee then you need to show how much you lost as a result of the delay - if no quantitative loss I would expect about £25 to £50 on top.
Contents of Post 6 that I created I turned into questions of complaint and asked for 100.00 Compensation plus refund of CHAPS fee
Thanks to those who took time out to post on this thread
YBS, phoned me,and said reference that Leek B.S used caused Y.B.S automated system to regard the credit as a foreign transfer hence delay in crediting to my account.
As was Y.B.S automated system that caused delay and inconvenience to me, my complaint has been upheld, Y.B.S agreed to refund CHAPS fee plus pay me 100.00 compensation. they will also amend credit to show was from UK etc
