Water softener help

Hi mse forum
Hope you are all well.
I moved into a ground floor flat following years of renting. The place has this water softener installed. There wasn't any instruction manual left though. I don't know what brand or manufacturer it is from and I don't know if it functions properly.
1. How do I identify the brand? No labels available.
2. How do I find out if it is functioning properly? There is water movement and I can detect the water level decreasing or salt diminishing but I am not an expert.
3. Any advice if I should I sell this if I don't know how it works? The issue is about how I can sell when I don't know much about it myself.
I have pasted the link to two images here (drive.google.com/drive/folders/1n1s-jmJWmlDldriI0ThUpyzc1QW7T3Pu?usp=sharing).
Thank you very much in advance for any help.
Roger

That looks like one Wickes used to sell. If the salt is going down, it sounds like it's working to me.
Don't sell it, they're brilliant.0 -
Thank you very much for the response
Sorry one thing I didn't say was that the digital reading fluctuates frequently (hardly stable).
Not only that there have been times they don't show any number.
Would would be the most suitable handyman or serviceman to contact for help (plumbers or would there be specialised plumbers)?
What should the digital meter show for a sufficiently functioning unit and sufficiently softened water in terms of digital count?

Sorry, I did not realise yours is electronic. Not come across one of those. Maybe if you email this firm, they will be able to help:

However, are you sure it's not working anyway, despite the display? I think I might just let it do its thing, and not worry about the display.0 -
Hi rogerqwerty and welcome to MSE, you can always test the water outlets using test strips .
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SimplexHealth-Total-Hardness-Water-Strips/dp/B00XCUVLLM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543944010&sr=8-1&keywords=water+hardness+test+strips :beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -

Is the link.
Googling water softener pictures looks like the BWT one in Screwfix... https://www.screwfix.com/p/bwt-compact-metered-water-softener-10ltr/45059 There's a manual for it there.
BUT, to me, there looks to be a serial no, and model no. # ? on the label of the "top cap" bit... RHS Googling that # might find something to confirm the brand?0
