A relative of mine has received a letter this week with the title 'We're making a payment to you'.

It goes onto to say 'Between 28 October 2013 and 2016, we didn't send you all the information we should have....'.

It then goes on to state that two Classic Accounts held will mean a payment plus 8% interest will be paid as interest as compensation.

So question to you ladies and gentlemen is - has anyone else had one of these letters? Is it specific to this type of Lloyds current account?

Regards

No. It can apply to accounts from various lenders, where the mistake has been made.

Worked out to be around £150.

Am surprised more forumites haven't received such out of the blue letters.

No, never, & we've banked with Lloyds since the year dot.

However, I recently had a call from a company called Refund, claiming I was owed some money. Great I said, & as they already knew my name & address they could send me a cheque. A no go of course!

Just to be on the very safe side, as long as Aunt doesn't have to give any a/c info, nor told after receiving the funds that a 'mistake' has been made & it needs to be returned (into some random a/c)...…...then good for her, just in time for Christmas.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
