Windows 7 help needed - access denied, need permission...

Options
I have a laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit).
Recently it started playing up, the screen randomly goes black, whole laptop freezes to a point I can't even force shutdown (I have to unplug it and remove the battery to turn it off) etc.
I have file created in 'Notepad'. I tried to open it today and it loaded up blank with 'access denied' error message. How to I make it load properly? I'm also unable to rename this file, can't copy it or move it to a different location (when I do this, I get 'you need permission for this action, you need permission form XY to make changes to this file'. I only have one user on the laptop (and I used the account to create the file about a month ago and now I won't let me access it).
How do I fix this? I really need the info in the file (it's got all the addresses of friends/relatives and I need them to post Christmas cards). Please help!

For the "access denied" message, there are some things you can try here:

The first thing to try there is to run a scan with your antivirus and MalwareBytes:

It could be overheating. You could try carefully vacuuming any vents. Ideally remove the outer case and vacuum inside.

Failing that, it could be a problem with Windows or a hardware issue. If you can download this ISO image, burn it to CD (or USB), and boot from it, you'll be running a live/ready-to-go version of GNU/Linux. (This won't affect your Windows installation at all.)

If you still have the same problems, it's likely to be a hardware problem. Otherwise it'll be a problem with Windows (probably drivers or system corruption).
