HELP!!DVD player...remote control not working?

Options
Hi

My DVD player (Toshiba SD-125E) is refusing to work. The remote control handset has stopped working. I have tried replacing the batteries, but to no avail. This means that when I put a DVD in, and it requires me to press ENTER on the handset so the DVD runs, I can't. Simply pressing PLAY on the DVD player does not work either. There is not an ENTER button on the DVD Player.
As it only appears to be the lack of remote controller, that prevents the player from working, is it possible to get a new remote so I can get the DVD player to work?
If so, what sort, and from where?

Grateful for any help.

Pressing PLAY on the unit should make the DVD function, I suspect that it is more than just the Remote Control.

i agree, pressing play on the dvd player should work. i wouldnt go to all the fuss of getting a new remote coz dvd players are very cheap now. i would just get a new dvd player. dont let it put you off toshiba coz we have a toshiba sd210e dvd player that is 6 years old and still works.

Your remote might be repairable. It tells you what to do here:

point your remote toward a video camera or some digital stills camera's and you should see it emit pulsating light when you press a button - check along side a working remote to see. This is generally a good indicator of remote health.
Make sure all contacts are present inside the battery compartment - especially the piece linking both terminals of the batteries...
Would you believe I just threw the remote for my old Toshiba SD220 away last week which is a shame cos I bet it would have worked! Great players btw mine lasted for years and was often left on over night!
  • My Sky remote started working again once I took it apart and cleaned between the buttons and the PCB. It didn't look that dirty, but it worked a treat.
  • Thanks for the advice, i have a simlar problem but it occured by my son dropping the remote in the dogs water bowl.

I will try some of the tips suggested.
