Moving House - Insurance About to End

Hello All,
We are due to move house in February. Unfortunately our home insurance if due for renewal at the end of December.
Does anyone know my options?
If I renew now it seems silly to have a 12 month contract only to end it after just over a month. All seem to have fees associated with them.
I assume I could also transfer but there will undoubtedly be a cost associated with this and I could do without the hassle.
I was going to go for a monthly contract with ageas.co.uk as that seemed perfect. However for some reason when I go to get a quote it states they cant offer me insurance (there is nothing unusual about the house or myself so not sure what is going on there).
Everywhere else that seems to sell short term insurance seem to be for unoccupied properties, which this is not.
Any help much appreciated.
