DWP asking how I spent daughters DLA

Hi I’ve come on here to see if someone could answer my question. My daughter has severe arthritis. June last year I was working and applied for DLA in the hope I’d get more rights as an employee. They denied it. Mandatory reconsideration also denied. So I had to take them to court. In the mean time I lost my job due to time off I was having.
Court went in my favour and I was backdated DLA for nearly a year. Currently not in work I’ve applied for income support which I have been receiving for the last couple of months. They’ve now suspended my claim and asked me to provide all information on what I’ve spent my daughters DLA on!
Just want to know if they can do this? I’m happy to do it as it was all spend on making life easier for her. But it’s not a means tested benefit?
If anyone could help I’d be very grateful. Thank you.

Yes they can ask you to account for any monies paid to you for the benifit of another person. remember that not everybody is honest.
  • Thank you. Like I said I’m happy to do it. They were already taking deductions because I was honest about what I had. But after further investigation, any benefit arrears should be disregarded for 52 weeks?! So not sure why they’re even asking me as was only paid in May this year.

Hi, have you put that point across to them ?
